Il progetto dell’Università di Bologna per la salvaguardia dell’ambiente marino punta a coinvolgere circa 400mila persone. Sono più di venti le zone balneari in cui i giovani biologi di Unibo, in collaborazione con gli operatori turistici del Sistema Confcommercio, raccoglieranno i dati sullo “stato” del mare tramite interviste a bagnanti, snorkelisti e subacquei.
Entra nel vivo Sentinelle del Mare, il progetto del Dipartimento di Scienze biologiche, geologiche e ambientali dell’Università di Bologna per la salvaguardia dell’ambiente e la consapevolezza ambientale. Nello specifico, l’iniziativa punta al monitoraggio della biodiversità marina coinvolgendo, con il sostegno di Confcommercio-Imprese per l’Italia, le imprese turistiche associate, i cittadini e i turisti in diverse località d’Italia. Sono più di venti le zone balneari in cui i giovani biologi di Unibo, in collaborazione con gli operatori turistici del Sistema Confcommercio, raccoglieranno i dati sullo “stato” del mare tramite interviste a bagnanti, snorkelisti e subacquei. Incontri, presentazioni ed escursioni in mare animeranno il programma di intrattenimento di alberghi, campeggi, porti turistici, stabilimenti balneari e ristoranti, coniugando in questo modo attività di intrattenimento e ricerca scientifica. L’obiettivo di Unibo e di Confcommercio è di coinvolgere nelle attività di rilevamento circa 400mila persone, un risultato a portata di mano visto il successo di partecipazione finora riscosso e i numerosi riconoscimenti ricevuti. Già concluse nelle aree di Palermo, Taranto, Monterosso-Cinque terre, Cadimare, Lerici, Terracina e Fondi, le operazioni di rilevazione dei dati si stanno avviando in queste ore nel Lido di Roma-Ostia, a Porto San Giorgio/Fermo e nella provincia di Chieti, lungo la Costa dei Trabocchi, da Fossacesia a Rocca San Giovanni. Proseguono, inoltre, le attività a Ventimiglia e Santo Stefano al mare, in provincia di Imperia e – per tutta la stagione estiva – all’isola di Santo Stefano nell’arcipelago della Maddalena. Dal 9 settembre il progetto sarà attivo anche nel grossetano, dall’Argentario a Talamone, e nelle isole del Giglio e di Giannutri. Da nord a sud della Penisola, gli amanti del mare, vacanzieri o residenti, possono, dunque, offrire il loro contributo compilando una scheda di rilevamento e indicando, dopo l’escursione in mare, la presenza e l’abbondanza delle specie avvistate. Le schede serviranno ai ricercatori dell’Università di Bologna per confrontare i dati con quelli raccolti negli anni precedenti e verificare come è cambiata la salute del Mediterraneo nell’ultimo decennio. Sarà anche un modo per sensibilizzare turisti e operatori sull’impatto ambientale delle attività umane e sulle conoscenze biologiche ed ecologiche.
