Firmato un protocollo d’intesa che impegna le due associazioni a collaborare per l’organizzazione delle attività previste dall’iniziativa “La Città che legge” del Centro per il Libro e la Lettura del Mibac.
Promuovere il riconoscimento delle librerie come interlocutori primari e diretti dei Comuni per la realizzazione di iniziative nel campo della promozione della lettura e sensibilizzare i Comuni su possibili iniziative di sostegno alle librerie, con particolare riferimento alla facilitazione nell’uso delle sale civiche, alla priorità degli acquisti di libri per le biblioteche comunali, alle agevolazioni su fiscalità locale ed alle azioni per calmierare il costo per gli affitti. Sono gli obiettivi principali del protocollo di intesa sottoscritto dal presidente dell’Anci e sindaco di Bari, Antonio Decaro, e dal presidente dell’Associazione Librai Italiani Ali) aderente a Confcommercio, Paolo Ambrosini. L’intesa impegna anche le due associazioni a collaborare per l’organizzazione delle attività previste dall’iniziativa “La Città che legge” del Centro per il Libro e la Lettura del Mibac. Allo stesso tempo i Comuni saranno invitati a sottoscrivere un “Patto locale per la lettura”, coordinato dall’assessore comunale alla Cultura allo scopo di realizzare una programmazione congiunta degli eventi di promozione della lettura sul territorio. Infine il documento prevede un’azione congiunta di Anci e Ali su governo e parlamento perché attivino azioni concrete di sostegno alle librerie e al loro ruolo culturale: da interventi a sostegno dei consumi culturali in libri al rifinanziamento con adeguato stanziamento per il credito imposta alle librerie, fino ad azioni a sostegno dell’apertura di nuove librerie, soprattutto nelle zone del Paese che ne sono attualmente sprovviste. “E’ per noi significativo che l’Anci – commenta Paolo Ambrosini, presidente di Ali Confcommercio – sottoscriva con la nostra organizzazione questo protocollo perché conferma quanto noi da sempre sosteniamo ovvero che per i nostri territori, le nostre città, i nostri Comuni la presenza delle librerie rappresenta un valore aggiunto in grado di portare più socialità, più vita culturale e in prospettiva più benessere perché libro e lettura sono gli attivatori dei processi di innovazione e di migliore comprensione dei fenomeni socio-culturali che attraversano il nostro tempo. Per questo sono grato ad Anci e al suo presidente Decaro per aver compresso tutto ciò e per aver con questo protocollo indicato ai propri associati un percorso virtuoso che ne siamo certi non potrà che portare benefici ai comuni e ai loro cittadini”. “Le librerie sono un presidio culturale fondamentale per le città – commenta Antonio Decaro, presidente dell’Anci – e i sindaci ne sono ben consapevoli. Come associazione dei Comuni ci impegniamo a sostenere le richieste dell’Ali al Mibac per l’attivazione di politiche a favore delle librerie e della promozione delle lettura, e a invitare i Comuni a fare ogni sforzo possibile per difendere le librerie esistenti e favorire l’apertura di nuovi presidi, nell’interesse di tutti i cittadini.
